EDF presentation in United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW65 – 2021)

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is one of the first functional commissions of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), which itself is one of the main UN organs within the United Nations created in 1946. CSW is dedicated to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women. The commission’s annual two-week sessions are held with dedicated themes in March to discuss progress, identify challenges, set policies, and set global standards on gender equality and rights of women and girls. Though the policy-making role of the commission has no execution guaranty, the activities are very effective and useful. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, all meetings of CSW65 (2021) were held virtually in NGO CSW65 Virtual Forum from 15 to 26 March 2021.

EDF has a Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and every year tries to take part in CSW’s events. EDF parallel event title for CSW65 was Empowering Connecting and Relying on Local Facilitators; an EDF COVID-19 Strategy. This event was held virtually on the Zoom platform at 2:00 AM (Iranian time) on 17th March 2021.
